After fitting the cam i was beginning to wonder whether my Rage single 3″ Exhaust (BB9062) was sufficient to let the car breathe – this was a great system for a bolt-on only setup with great power gain and a sweet exhaust note but I feel a decent cam really benefits from a twin system.
With Autobend (Rage) having recently developed a twin 3″ bigbore for the VT-VZ V8 Commodore I decided that the BB9211 would be my next weapon of choice and would also future proof me come time for forced induction.
I on-sold the old BB9062 which was still in good condition and ordered/fitted the new twin setup. Once I finished fitting the bigbore the first turn of the key told me I had done something major to the flow of the exhaust gasses – it was loud, a lot louder! I have to admit it didnt sound as nice as the BB9062 but i guess my primary goal wasnt sound now but power plus i hadnt given it a chance to carbon up which you should always do before giving a final verdict on exhaust note.
Anyway, I took her for a drive and certainly felt the difference – hard to tell exactly where the power gains were being delivered (something for the dyno)…maybe it was across the entire rev range but she felt strong and angry….and did i mention the exhaust note? Loud!
